INTRODUCTION

DEE-Structures and Buildings Department

DEE is a technical department responsible for buildings, steel structures, bridges and other types of structures. The main technical activities of DEE include:

a) Provision of technical comments, Preparation of Quality Control Manual (MCQ) and Approval & Reception Procedures (ARP)

b) Quality consultancy service for public projects

c) Consultancy service on revision or preparation of Macau Codes

d) Organizing with testing centers, to facilitate the inspection activities and the structural condition evaluation for different structures, bridges and buildings etc.

DEE consists of three Test Centers (since 2014) – NIEE, NIPE and NII. Each test center is established according to their functions, and they are working closely under the coordination of DEE.

NIEE-Center of Buildings and Structures Inspection

NIEE is responsible for works related to testing and inspection services on the structural condition evaluation of buildings and steel structures. It provides different non-destructive tests in terms of mechanical properties and durability condition of structures. Structural monitoring is one of the most important activities to be carried out especially on the buildings adjacent to the construction sites.

NIPE-Center of Bridges and Structures Inspection

NIPE is responsible for works related to testing and inspection services on the structural condition evaluation of bridges, viaducts, tunnels and other special types of structures. It provides different non-destructive tests in terms of mechanical properties and durability condition of structures. Structural monitoring is one of the most important activities to be carried out on the bridges, viaducts and tunnels.

NII-Center of Leakage Inspection

NII is responsible for works related to water leakage inspection services, such as the water tightness tests for drainage and sewage pipe lines, and building leakage inspection works by using nondestructive methods. Moreover, Inspection services on the common building components are being performed. Aluminum window 1:1 mock up tests are developed in order to evaluate the air tightness, water tightness and wind load deformation resistance of the window
